Saint Alban
The executioner who was supposed to behead Alban converted to Christianity after hearing his testimony. The executioner refused to kill Alban and was executed instead. Other witnesses to Alban's execution are said to have converted as well. Alban is the patron saint of converts and victims of torture.

Saint Pantaleon
The executioners were converted after attempting to behead Pantaleon, but the sword bent. Pantaleon asked heaven to forgive them, and he received the name Panteleemon, which means "the all-compassionate".

Antoninus of Rome
A public executioner in Rome who converted to Christianity after having a vision during the trial of St. Eusebius. He was beheaded in 186 for proclaiming his faith

It housed many IRA prisoners' Maidstone Prison is one of the oldest penal institutions in the United Kingdom, having been in operation for over 200 years. Originally serving as a  county jail ,  Maidstone  was converted to a prison during the 1740s. During his visits to the prison, reformer  John Howard  reported poor living conditions at the prison including overcrowding and poor ventilation. It can be difficult and upsetting to visit someone you care about in prison. In more than 60 prisons across England & Wales, Pact staff and volunteers are there to welcome children and families arriving to visit loved ones inside. Many will have had a long journey. Some will be anxious about how their loved one is coping, or about an uncomfortable conversation they need to have with them when they meet in the Visits Hall.
